Tax District Information

The Asotin County Rural Library District is a Junior Taxing District located in the southeastern corner of Washington State. The District was formed by the voters of Asotin County in 1965. The cities of Clarkston and Asotin are annexed to the District. The District is governed by a five member Board of Trustees and overseen by the Library Director, who holds a Master of Library Science Degree, as required by Washington state law.

The vast majority of funding for the District comes from property taxes. Other funds come from donations, grants, rents, charges for copies and replacement costs and contributions from the Friends of the Asotin County Library and the Asotin County Library Foundation. There is no state or federal funding for public libraries.
