I think this book and the duology as a whole was probably my favorite read of 2023. I loved the world that it created and it was so easy to fly through this book. The characters were very well written and they were left with lots of room for growth and development moving into the second book. I have read quite a few vampire fantasy books and this takes the top pick for me hands down. When I read this book I ended up reading this book and the second book all within a weekend, I always recommend this as one of my top fantasy reads. And if you fall in love with the world, like me, there are also two novellas set within the same world!
