Morton has a talent for bring the past into the future. Often, I have read a book, jumping back and forth in time, finding myself more than a little confused. I didn't have that problem with this story even though we were jumping back and forth from present day to Victorian times.
I also like that this story seems to reach beyond the grave as the house in the story is just a wee bit haunted, but not in a scary way, more an intriguing/mystery to be solved way.
