Mary Neuman, Assistant Director/Youth Services Librarian, will be retiring at the beginning of the year. Her last day will be January 31st.
A retirement open house will be held on Tuesday, January 30 from 3-6pm, in the Library’s Community Room, for people to thank Mary for her contribution to our community and congratulate her on a well-earned retirement.
Mary came to Asotin County Library on November 18, 2002 and hit the ground running. She has initiated dozens of new programs over the years. Some of the most well-loved of these have been the annual Family Christmas Craft Program and three summer reading camp outs we held at the library. Thousands of children have benefited from Mary’s enthusiasm and genuine love of children and their development. Mary has participated in grants and innovative projects that the library has taken on including the Views II Project (research that proved for the first time that library story times make a significant difference in kindergarten readiness), the EDGE Initiative (which developed a suite of tools for libraries to make data driven decisions), and open data education and publication.
