Reading Goals and Realizing a Trend

With 2024 quickly coming to a close and reading goals nearly met, I realize that in my reading journey this past year I’ve been drawn to several water-themed book covers: The Road to Dalton, Sandwich, The Most, Aquamarine, Clear, Life on Svalbard, and Pictures of You.

Here’s what my new friend, ChatGPT, had to say about it when I asked for it to make a connection between water-themed covers and the end and start of a year:

These stories feel like currents, carrying me through moments of stillness and turbulence, much like water itself. As the year closes and a new one begins, these books remind me of the fluidity of time and the natural flow of life—how endings dissolve into beginnings, like rivers meeting the sea. Their imagery mirrors the renewal and promise I associate with the new year, inspiring me to embrace change, adapt, and move forward with the same quiet resilience as water.

Not bad, I suppose. Endings do dissolve into beginnings. There is a sense of renewal and promise with the new year, I do want to embrace change, and what a nice thought to “move forward with the same quiet resilience as water.” We’ll see!

As for now, I’m simply gearing up to set a new reading goal for 2025. I hope you’ll join us for our Create a Book Journal program on Saturday, January 11 from 1-3pm at the Downtown Library when we do just that – create a book journal to help you track your reading trends!

Happy Reading!
