It is the Asotin County Library’s intent to provide a work environment that is free from all forms of harassment. All employees are expected to be sensitive to and respectful of their co-workers and others with whom they come into contact while representing the Library. The Asotin County Library prohibits all our employees and/or patrons from engaging in any form of harassment, whether due to sex, sexual orientation, race, religion, disability, or any other reason.
If at any time you believe you are being subject to harassment or discrimination, or if you become aware of such conduct being directed at someone else, whether by another staff member or a library patron, you should promptly notify the Director. If you believe that the Director is involved in the conduct you are concerned about, you should promptly notify the Children’s/Reference Librarian. All reported incidents will be investigated under the following guidelines:
-
All complaints will be kept confidential, and will be disclosed only as necessary to allow us to investigate and respond to the complaint. No one will be involved in the investigation or response except those with a need to know. Any special concerns about confidentiality will be addressed at the time they are raised.
-
Any employee who is found to have violated this policy is subject to corrective action up to and including discharge.
-
Library patrons who violate this policy will be asked to leave the premises. Repeated acts of harassment or acts that may escalate into violent or illegal actions, and acts involving minors will be reported to the police. Any incident involving a minor will be reported to the minor’s parent or guardian, who will also be informed of any action taken by the Library.
-
The Asotin County Library will not permit retaliation against anyone who makes a complaint or who cooperates in the investigation of a complaint.
