Northstar Digital Literacy tests your computer skills. You can build skills in key areas, and demonstrate your knowledge by earning certificates and badges.

To sign up as a Northstar learner and keep track of your progress, use your name and email address to set up a learner account online.

The free set of assessments includes self-guided modules:

  • Essential Computer Skills: Basic Computer Skills, Internet Basics, Using Email, Windows, Mac OS
  • Essential Software Skills: Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Using Technology in Daily Life: Social Media, Information Literacy, and Creative Job Search

Closed-captioning is available and screen readers are supported.

Want help getting started? Library staff can help you create a learner account or you can make an appointment with a Digital Navigator.

If you would like to earn a certificate for a test that you’ve passed in your learner account, you can request to retake the test with proctor. Email techhelp@aclib.org or phone 509-758-5454 for proctor information.

Access to Northstar Digital Literacy is funded by the Washington State Library
