Cybersecurity & Internet Basics Workshops

Asotin County Library is among 215 public libraries nationwide awarded funding by the Public Library Association (PLA) this year to conduct digital literacy workshops using new Digitallearn.org resources.

Asotin County Library’s workshop efforts will focus training and resources to help individuals access online information easily and safely.

Digital Navigators from the Library will help individuals utilize these resources in upcoming workshops that will be conducted in-person at various locations in Asotin County.

Workshops currently scheduled:

Cybersecurity Basics
1:00pm on Wednesday, September 13 at Veterans Outreach Center, 829 15th St, Clarkston
10:00am on Thursday, September 14 at Valley Community & Senior Center, 549 5th St, Clarkston
5:30pm on Monday, September 18 at Asotin County Library, 417 Sycamore St, Clarkston

Internet Basics
1:00pm on Wednesday, October 11 at Veterans Outreach Center, 829 15th St, Clarkston
10:00am on Thursday, October 12 at Valley Community & Senior Center, 549 5th St, Clarkston
5:30pm on Monday, October 16 at Asotin County Library, 417 Sycamore St, Clarkston

Coffee & donuts will be served at each workshop. Participants will earn a certificate of completion and be entered in a drawing for BOSE wireless headphones!

Fine Print
Participants from any ACL, PLA & AT&T workshop can be entered in the BOSE headphones drawing. One entry per person. Drawing will be held December 14. Winner must be able to pick up their prize at Asotin County Library.

Wine & Wisdom at Basalt Cellars

Wine & Wisdom, a long-standing library program in partnership with Humanities Washington and Basalt Cellars, returns in August

Tuesdays at 6:30pm at Basalt Cellars, 906 Port Drive, Clarkston

Adult Summer Book Bingo 2023

 

Book Bingo is a fun opportunity for adults to enjoy summer reading activities too! Book Bingo challenges you to read AND win prizes! Past participants share, “I love playing this game!” and “This motivated me to go through my home library to read new genres.”

Play!
Pick up a Bingo Card at either the Downtown Library or Heights Branch or print the card posted below.

Keep track of books you read from June 12 through September 2 by writing the title & author in the matching square. Book titles may be used more than once, but if you want a bigger challenge try to read a different book for each square.

How Do I Win?
Learn more on the backside of the Bingo Card. Grand Prize is a $100 Visa Gift Card! Additional prizes include $10 gift cards and an opportunity to win a $25 gift card to a local business.

Interested in learning how to use Google Docs, Sheets, or Slides? These fun and FREE programs will take your technology skills to a whole new level.

Basic computer skills helpful and laptops can be provided (up to 10 available). You must have a Gmail account to participate. If you need help creating an account, please visit with library staff.

Wine & Wisdom: hosted conversations

Wine & Wisdom, a long-standing library program in partnership with Humanities Washington and Basalt Cellars, returns in August with four programs.

In-Person Events

Registration is not required for the in-person events.

Asotin County Library will monitor local infection rates and comply with local, state and federal recommendations for in-person gatherings on the day of the event. We respectfully ask that you consider wearing a mask at these events. Hand-sanitizer and masks will be available for use.

Learn the Essentials of Microsoft Word and Excel

MS Word | June 13 – 17 
You will learn how to use Microsoft Word 2016 to create flyers, dynamic graphics, complete a mail merge, print labels and more.

MS Excel | June 21 – 24 and 27 (no class June 20) 
Learn how to create spreadsheets, work with functions and formulas, create a budget, and more.
